Album

Bassekou Kouyate is celebrating the release of his album Jama ko' with the launch of his brandnew video Jama ko'. The video is a cry for tollerance and peace. Bassekou invited the Christian community, Muslims, Touareg friends like Manny Ansar head of the festival au desert, the tailor. Album 2013 14 Songs. Jama ko feat. 14 Songs, 1 Hour 3 Minutes. Released: 1 Mar 2013. Outhere Records 2013. More By Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba. Jama ko, cest pour tout le monde , says Bassekou Kouyate, griot and celebrated ngoni player, explaining the title of his third album, There are over 90 Muslims in Mali, but our form of Islam here has nothing to do with a radical form of Sharia: that is not our culture. We have been singing praise songs for the Prophet for hundreds of years. If the Islamists stop people music making they will rip the heart out of Mali. Malis ngoni ace returns. After his celebrated debut album Segu Blue and the Grammy nominated follow up I speak fula, hundreds of concerts all over the globe, performing as headliner in the AfroCubism project Bassekou Kouyate is back with his new album. Bassekou Kouyaté born 1966 is a musician from Mali. His band is known as Ngoni ba. He was born in Garana, Barouéli Cercle, 60 kilometres from Ségou, in 1966. At the age of 12, he started playing the ngoni. In the late 1980s he moved to the capital, Bamako. Kouyaté's debut album, Segu Blue, was released internationally in 2007 by Outhere Records and distributed in the U. by Proper Music Distribution. The album was produced by Lucy Durán. He has also appeared on a number of albums by Toumani Diabaté. Itâs a call for peace and unity and tolerance through crisis and the emotion of the album is strongly felt on Wagadou. A quite untouchable vocal which sends shivers down every inch of your spine. Haunting and powerful over a very sparse backing allows the track to soar. After a short stay on your imaginary beach basking in the sun and taking in the easy listening of Segu Jajiri comes a song in both French and English and featuring the guest vocals of Taj Mahal together with Kouyat.
